TAKING CARE OF YOUR MENTAL HEALTH

There is a number of things you can do to take care of your mental health:

Look after yourself

  • Make sure that you eat well and try to enjoy food
  • Good sleep is essential to both your physical and mental health; lack of or poor sleep is likely to cause emotional and mental health problems
  • Physical exercise, done in a way that you enjoy, always helps
  • Alcohol and/or drug use are also conducive to emotional and mental health problems
  • Allow yourself to find pleasure and satisfaction in your everyday life

Be kind to yourself

  • Try not to judge yourself harshly
  • Try not to hate yourself for who you are
  • Set achievable goals, reward yourself when you achieve them and do not reject yourself in case you do not

Talk to someone

  • Do not bottle up your stress and concerns
  • Do not isolate yourself
  • Engage yourself in activities
  • Try new things

And even if all these are too much for you

  • Ask for help – there is always someone who can help you
